Venue

ICMI 2024 will take place at the Crowne Plaza San José Conference Center. It is located in the west side of the city and within 30 minutes from the Juan Santamaría International Airport. The area offers several restaurants and cafés within walking distance. La Sabana, a large park that used to be an airport is just across the street from the conference venue and is a great place for sports and outdoor activities during the day.

The hotel has large spaces and multiple services. If you want to better view the facilities and nearby places, you can click on this video.

Traveling to Costa Rica

There are two international airports in Costa Rica. The one closest to the conference center, Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) is the largest and busiest. Most of the flights coming in will arrive there. Be careful, the second airport (Daniel Oduber) is in the northern part of the country, from there, it is a 4-hour drive to the conference center!

Different cities around the world are connected with direct flights to Juan Santamría Airport (SJO), some of which are Los Angeles, Orlando, Houston, Miami, Denver, New York, Toronto, Ciudad de México, Chicago, Bogotá, Ciudad de Guatemala, Lima, Madrid and Paris. Connecting options are also easy to find.

Arriving from the Airport

The easiest way to get to the conference center if you are arriving at the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) is to take the official airport taxis. They are orange and will be properly identified with the logo seen in the image below (Photo credit: FB page). A trip from the airport to the conference hotel should cost around $25 or $30. For more information about official transportation from the airport please visit this site.

Alternatively, you can rent a car directly at the airport. You can also choose to rent a car in advance from booking or enterprise., or there is also a car rental office inside the venue hotel (Avis). From the airport, it is an easy drive, but traffic can be very heavy depending on the time of the day you arrive. For navigation, we recommend using the Waze app. These are the driving directions.

Accomodation

Costa Rica is a tourist destination of high demand, and accommodations can be taken fast, so please also book your hotel with enough time. We recommend doing so immediately after registration.

The organization has separated a limited number of rooms in the conference hotel for attendees, which can be accessed by booking before October 1st. These can be accessed using this link to book. The hotel has different services, such as a restaurant, gym, parking, and swimming pool, you can access the information here.
